The Minds Behind The Innovation
Meet the team that has developed the most precise, safe, results driven Laser and IPL devices in the world.
Dr Andrew Charlton (PhD), Chairman
Dr Charlton graduated with a first-class degree in Physics and a PhD in Laser Physics from the Clarendon Laboratory in Oxford, prior to taking a NATO fellowship at the University of Colorado’s Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics. In 1989, Dr Charlton moved to the University of Manchester where he spent five years researching medical applications of Erbium, Holmium, Nd:YAG, and Pulsed Dye Lasers.
This expertise led him to found Lynton Lasers in 1994, and bring the first Q-switched Nd:YçAG aesthetic lasers and IPL systems to the UK market.
Dr Jon Exley (PhD), Managing Director
Dr Exley’s interest in lasers began whilst studying physics both at the University of Leeds (UK) and the Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble (France). Following graduation with a first-class honours degree; he joined one of the UK’s leading medical laser research centres at the University of Manchester to undertake a PhD research project sponsored by Lynton, where he developed one of the world’s first IPL devices.
Today, Dr Exley is actively involved with wider industry matters and has recently been appointed to the External Advisory Board for the University Of Manchester Dept. Of Physics and holds the position of Honorary Secretary of the British Medical Laser Association (BMLA).
Dr Samantha Hills (PhD), Customer Services & Clinical Director
Before joining Lynton, Dr Hills completed a first degree in Physics, followed by a PhD in Physics and Pharmaceutical Sciences, working in the field of light-responsive drug delivery.
Dr Hills joined Lynton as a Clinical Specialist in 2002. She is the author and main lecturer of the industry-leading Lynton / University of Manchester Skin Laser courses and has been asked to contribute to a number of books on laser and light treatments.
In 2017 Dr Hills was appointed an honorary lecturer in the Department of Musculoskeletal and Dermatological Sciences at the University of Manchester, in recognition for her ongoing contribution to the University of Manchester’s ‘Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine’ MSc course. She is the laser/IPL Expert for BABTAC and is on the training faculty for the British Medical Laser Association. She has published more than 30 papers in a variety of highly regarded medical and scientific journals.
Dr Andrew J Berry (PhD) ,Director & Company Secretary
One of the original founders of Lynton, Technical Director for most of its history, but more recently the director responsible for HR, QA, Compliance and introducing Surgical Lasers into the Lynton portfolio.
Born in Colne, Lancashire, educated at Oxford (BA, Physics), Southampton (PhD, Laser Physics) and Manchester (Post-doctoral Research, Laser Physics). Was responsible for the design and development of the company’s Paragon, Lumina and Luminette Systems.
Hayley Jones, Sales & Marketing Director
With extensive Laser & IPL knowledge, Hayley has worked for many years as a business consultant with a range of practices from NHS to single room sites offering medical and aesthetic treatments. In doing so she has experience of all the common clinical and business challenges faced in today’s fast-moving cosmetic industry. Hayley is a renowned figure within the aesthetic industry, regularly holding talks and seminars on key business development practices
Dr Ben Dickinson (PhD), Operations Director
Ben is responsible for managing Lynton’s Technology team whose role is designing, sourcing, developing and manufacturing exciting, high-quality products for Lynton customers. Ben studied BSc (Hons) Physics with Technological Physics at the University of Manchester before going on to complete a PhD in Applied Laser Physics.
